Dan Carbonell
Dan Carbonell

Dan Carbonell

A life long athlete, Dan first came to his yoga mat looking to build core strength and improve flexibility for his other endeavors. However it only took one vinyasa class for him to understand the practice’s transformational power. A successful thirty day challenged followed and he was hooked. After bouncing around a few studios in the Washington, DC area, Dan moved to Boulder and jumped head first into its amazing yoga community. When not immersed in the world of yoga, you can find Dan climbing, running, and enjoying all the outdoor activities Colorado has to offer.
Dan's classes are accessible to practitioners of all ability levels and he loves guiding students down the difficult, but rewarding path of extraordinary consciousness and self-empowerment. For Dan yoga isn't about flexibility, yoga is about meeting the sensation of your own inflexibility with compassion and using the breath as a vehicle for cultivating bodily awareness. For this reason, Dan's classes place a high emphasis on the breath practice and he encourages his students to come to their mats with an open mind, a light heart, and most important a willingness to have fun!

Matt Kapinus

Matt Kapinus

In 1995, Matt moved to Boulder from Hyattsville, Maryland. He fell in love with Boulder, its majestic beauty and openhearted community. Matt discovered yoga during a time in his life when he felt painfully stuck. He experienced its power as a means to moving energy and awakening self-love.

Matt studied Baptiste-style power Vinyasa, and completed his 200- hour teacher certification in 2007. Two years later, he quit his job of twelve years and turned his focus to developing as a yoga teacher and student. Matt teaches classes that are nurturing and challenging. He encourages compassion for one’s self and strives to connect people with their own innate divinity.

"Yoga is not about being flexible or even making yourself flexible. It is about meeting your inflexibility with kindness and curiosity. Yoga can be felt as the union between the limitless self and the separate self, between the global soul and the ego. During the asana practice we hold ourselves in gentleness underneath the challenge of the postures. We find our true selves by coming into our bodies with love rather than an agenda to fix or change something. We let ourselves feel, with extraordinary presence and honesty, the deep ache of being a human being. We seek to evolve and grow but still consistently allow self-compassion and grace to flourish beneath our effort."

Alex Jarboe

Alex, born in DC, raised outside Philly, was intrigued by the idea of Yoga before he began his practice. After working in a fast paced environment for the Secret Service and Lloyds of London, Yoga became an outlet to quiet his mind and provided greater self-awareness. He believes that the asana practice helps cultivate a deeper dialogue between the mind, body and the spirit and has the ability to generate new positive energy within. Yoga allows us to confirm from the inside what serves us and shed the unnecessary layers that have been piled onto us from the outside.

Rachel's hope is for her students to allow positivity into their lives. She feels fulfilled when she challenges her students while keeping them safe so that they can practice for years to come. You can find her practicing sound healing with Tibetan singing bowls, riding on the slopes, snowshoeing, hiking, running and enjoying the sweet Colorado life.

Let your dominant intent be to feel good, which means be playful, have fun, laugh often, look for reasons to appreciate and practice the art of appreciation. Julia Bond

My personal mission is to empower people physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally through the continual cultivation of self-awareness. My training includes both the 45 hr HOT and 200 hr SEVA teacher training through the Yoga Pod. As an avid cultural and outdoor enthusiast I discovered yoga in 2008 while traveling in India.

I have come to the understanding that there is a symbiotic relationship shared in the balance of our physical, mental, and emotional self. Our asana practice allows us to work through the physical layers taking us deeper into our mental and emotional realms. Likewise a mutualism exist between the health of ourselves and the health of our environment. There is a deep wisdom within that pulls me to continue to learn and evolve within different modalities of yoga, using my asana practice as a gateway.

As a teacher my intent is to offer alignment based cueing, allowing students to build solid foundations within each posture. When our foundations are strong we have a platform to be limitless in our exploration, allowing each posture to take new shape as we dance between patience and courage. I am so grateful and humbled by all of the amazing teachings I continue to receive.

I am in a long term committed relationship with Hot yoga. It began on a frozen Minnesota winter night, and it was love at first class. I was actually steaming afterward, it was truly magical. Upon arrival in Boulder in 2004 I knew I was home, in yoga heaven. I finished my 200 hour teacher training in 2011, and Yoga Pod’s Hot Intensive training in 2014. I hope to provide a welcoming space for you to further explore the nature of your practice. I am here to bring genuine light-hearted fun and inclusive inspiration to each of my classes.

Chris Corl

Chris Corl

For over a decade Chris practiced yoga, on and off, always loving it but never really committing himself. Everything changed in 2015 when his mom died and he ended an 8 year relationship in the same short span of time. This experience of loss and grief precipitated a healing process in his life that has been deeply transformative and is ongoing. During this time, his yoga practice has been his primary modality of self-exploration and healing. Yin yoga in particular has helped him find a softer and more loving connection with himself, more patience, more ease, and more tenderness and care.

In his teaching, Chris holds a space for others to be in a healing way, and find this same kind of tender connection with themselves. Taking the time to slow down and really touch in with yourself and give yourself permission to be exactly as you are is a profound and transformative gesture, every time. It is his honor to guide and facilitate these yin practices which Chris believes are so important to the health of our community.

Sashi Gollub

After practicing intermittently for years , Sashi’s practice truly deepened and transformed once she started meditating. She found that by tuning in to the microcosm of her own internal world, she began to understand the external world around her with greater clarity, patience, ease, and joy. No longer was Yoga simply an alternative means to athleticism, or even some good deep stretching; it became a dance between the physical and the energetic… a moving meditation, that could be applied to every moment of the day. With intelligent and creative sequences that open the body, Sashi teaches a class that evolves through heat-building asana, into a more cooling, introspective end, so that ultimately, practitioners can sit in stillness.

Sashi received all 500 hours of her teaching certification from Yogiraj Alan Finger at ISHTA Yoga in New York City, where she taught until her recent move to Boulder. Before she found yoga, she received her B.F.A from New York University in Theatre with a strong focus in poetry, and continues to draw upon her background in the arts as well as her passion for Tantric philosophy to infuse her classes with a mix of wisdom, inspiration, and joy from both the Western as well as Eastern worlds. Currently she is working towards her Masters this fall in Transpersonal Psychology at Naropa University.

I WELCOME YOU to connect with each breath in each moment. To experience the breath with wonder and delight! By consciously utilizing our breath to open ourselves to postures, we can release stagnant energy and create space for new experiences, on and off our mats. Together we can co-create a space of understanding, healing and transformation.

To me, the beauty of practicing yoga is the gift I ultimately give to myself, presence. The more present I am the more authentic I can be in any relationship, from interacting with a person I just met to a familiar loving partner. Breathing brings my awareness to my center and from there I can move with grace through the world, even when I stumble!

OM SHANTI - Peace for each and everything in this whole cosmic manifestation!

I have always been fascinated by the human body. Academically, I pursued this interest and received a Bachelors Degree in Exercise Physiology and a Masters Degree in Acupuncture/ Oriental Medicine. My goal in class is to integrate the best of both the East and West, incorporating science & spirit into breath & alignment.

My path to yoga began at age 13 when I started dance classes, everything from Ballet and Jazz to Tap and, yes, even Disco. This helped establish my sense of body awareness and made for an easy transition into teaching aerobics at age 18. I also competed in several National and International aerobics competitions. In 1998 I began practicing Iyengar yoga and in 2003 trained with Yogi Hari in Mirimar, Florida. The quantum leap in my yoga practice came in 2007 at the Forrest Yoga Teacher Training with Ana Forrest. She taught me how to really look at the body, physically & energetically. Her "basic moves" have completely changed the way I feel and move. I hope to inspire my students the way that she has inspired me.

She completed Hot Yoga Teacher’s Training in December of 2008 and training with Ana Forrest in October of 2009. Her great love for Forrest Yoga has significantly impacted her practice, life, and spirit and has developed in her a greater understanding of the healing power of breath and honoring truth on and off the mat.

Kate has experience in many different interests: music, modeling, acting, children and teaching; but the constant love in her life for the past seventeen years has been her yoga mat! No matter what emotion that has flowed in and out of her life; loss, grief of losing loved ones, heartache, joy, contentment or just pure bliss; yoga has always created a place of grounding and clarity. You will always find a smile on her face after she practices time and time again! Kate is truly honored to be able to bring her great passion for this art of healing to all that cross her path at the Yoga Pod!

Paul Perry
Paul Perry

Paul Perry

Paul began his yoga journey a bit accidentally in 1999, as a way to relieve the growing tension in his aching muscles. At the advice of a friend, this ‘stretching’ this was just supplemental, physical, and temporary. Relying on intuition and experimentation rather than any others’ instruction or classical texts, his home practice soon became more consistent, and surprisingly rewarding. In 2004 he stepped into a Bikram studio and after spending 20 hot, uncomfortable minutes in class, decided everyone in the room was insane, left the class with no plans on coming back. Still, a week later he inexplicably found himself back at the studio and soon began a regular practice. After recognizing glimpses of the transcendence of a committed practice, he decided to share the passion and begin teaching Yoga in 2008. He is committed to practicing and teaching a variety of styles including: Hot, HVF, Vinyasa, and Yin Yoga. Paul teaches with particular attention drawn to the BREATH, exploring presence, and encourages his students to be open to and receive exactly what they need from each and every practice.

After graduating from CU Boulder with a degree in psychology, Megan worked for several years in neuroscience research at CU. With a passion for research and asking important questions about our minds, Megan aims to promote yoga and its contemplative nature as a science of transcendence that everyone can practice.

Megan offers a challenging, yet grounded practice aimed towards body awareness and intentional breathing. She believes in cultivating self-compassion when navigating the challenges of our lives, both on and off our mats.
Nikki Rogers
Nikki Rogers

Nikki Rogers

Nikki first landed on her yoga mat in 1999 while living in Atlanta, GA and teaching Pilates at a local studio. As a classically trained ballet and modern dancer, she was intrigued by the postures and the idea of joining the breath with the movement. She fell into a steady Ashtanga practice and continued exploring the practice with various teachers until landing in Boulder, CO in 2002. Once in Boulder she had the opportunity to study with some amazing teachers, and over the course of the next 12 years she completed teacher trainings with Richard Freeman (200 hours) and CorePower Yoga (200+ hours), and she is most currently working towards her 500 hour ERYT with Gina Caputo and the Colorado School of Yoga. She has also completed numerous trainings in Yin Yoga and has her Masters Degree in Holistic Nutrition. Nikki teaches a flow-style, moderately paced class that always revolves around the correct alignment of the postures. She pays close attention to the breath, and typically builds her classes to a safe yet challenging peak posture. She likes to keep her classes fun and light-hearted, and allows each student to work to their appropriate edge. Through the practice of Yoga, she hopes to help her students find happiness in their bodies!

Jo Schaalman
Jo Schaalman

Jo Schaalman

Jo, no stranger to competition and pushing her body past its limits, was a nationally-ranked diver and coach. In 1999, she took her first yoga class.
Through yoga, Jo discovered an emotional and physical outlet that brought balance to her life, and she began teaching yoga in Boulder in 2003. That summer, Jo took a job working for an outdoor travel company. While biking across the United States from Savannah to Santa Monica, she was hit by a truck. Jo sustained multiple spinal fractures and loss of movement.

It was during this painful time that her yoga journey truly began. Jo used yoga to rehabilitate her body. While traditional medicine was unable to relieve her back pain, yoga brought her relief. Inspiration, too, resulted from this traumatic period in Jo’s life as she realized that she wanted to bring emotional and physical healing to others.
She now teaches Baptiste and Forrest yoga. Jo’s intent as a yoga instructor is to guide her students through their own journey of emotional, physical, and spiritual healing.

Steph Schwartz

Steph Schwartz

Steph loves connecting people to their awesomeness through dynamic yoga flows and heart-opening chanting.

A yogi since 1999, Steph discovered Ashtanga yoga while training for ultra marathons. The obstacles she faced on the trail were no different than those she faced on her mat. And the rewards were just as memorable. She wanted to help others realize their potential (without having to run 100 miles).

Steph’s classes are creative, fun and challenging, and focus on breath, concise cueing and hands-on adjustments. She hopes to continue to bring people together and build a strong sense of community and connection.
Lauren Schultz
Lauren Schultz

Lauren Schultz

Born and raised in Colorado, Lauren was fortunate to have the great outdoors as her own personal playground. With a professional IronMan triathlete as a mother, exercise came as a second nature for her. She began racing triathlons at a very young age and took up yoga as a cross training exercise. Yoga was love at first class and became so much more than a cross training program. Yoga became an outlet for her mind and it helped keep her body injury free.

Lauren's passion for yoga and exercise is hard to contain, so she doesn't. She loves this practice and it shines through from the corners of her smile. Her ultimate goal is to bring the same health and radiance she feels, to each of her students. When she's not teaching, she's running, mountain biking, or attending CU Boulder studying philosophy. She hopes she can bring joy and healthy "soreness" to each and every one of her students!
Tyler Sparks

Tyler Sparks

Tyler incorporated yoga into his life in 2010. He has always been intrigued by the heat and fell in love with Hot yoga. Tyler started practicing yoga mainly because of injuries, but he soon learned that yoga was much more than a physical practice, it made him happy. Tyler found a connection in his practice primarily through his breath and the feelings of comfort that it brought him. His main strive for becoming an instructor was that he wanted to share this feeling of bliss with his students. When Tyler isn't practicing he is either asleep in his hammock or exploring all that Boulder has to offer. Tyler graduated from the University of Colorado here in Boulder in 2013 and works for a local software company full time.
Suzanne Spiegel
Suzanne Spiegel

Suzanne Spiegel

Suzanne fell in love with yoga & meditation 8 years ago, after graduating from college. Through yoga, suzanne discovered her ability to relax into the vibrant nature of the present moment. As a teacher, she aims to help students use the tools of yoga to become grounded in direct experience while cultivating a compassionate and open mind. Suzanne believes that the simplest practices are often the most profound, especially in western culture where many of us have been over stimulated and intellectualized. Because of this, she tends to focus on teaching students to embody relaxation, trust and simplicity while cultivating compassion through the witness perspective. Within this space, healing and inspiration tend to arise naturally. Suzanne is a natural communicator and she enjoys sharing yogic and eastern techniques simply and accessibly so that they can be enjoyed by anyone.

Suzanne is also an environmental activist who believes that one of the most powerful ways of addressing the planetary issues of our time is by working to unravel our internal conflict so that we each project more peace, joy and inspiration instead of fear, greed and competitiveness. She believes that as we connect to our own essential nature through mindfulness, we begin to perceive our interconnectedness and our desire to care for each other and our planet grows.

Aimey "Wolf" Terry

Aimey, or "Wolf" as she is known in the Yoga Pod Community, recently completed Yoga Pod Boulder's Seva Teacher Training Program (Fall 2015) after which she quickly became an active member of the Yoga Pod team as an Assistant Kavi. You've probably seen her at the front desk, and you probably know her as "Wolf." Before becoming a teacher, Wolf had been practicing yoga for 10 years, dating back to a nearly fatal alpine ski racing injury and continuing through college, a severe illness, and her career as an actor, musician and teaching artist. Today Wolf is a yogi as well as a chef and food writer. Wolf plays 5 different instruments and is a classically trained vocalist, so don't be surprised if she sings to you with her harmonium while you're in Savasana. As a former athlete, Wolf is very focused on alignment and the conversation that happens between the brain and the nervous system in different postures; as an artist she encourages her students to get creative in their practice and to pursue a loving relationship with the mind, body, and soul on and off of the mat. Wolf loves people with her whole heart, and her goal as a teacher is to shine light on the beauty that exists within each and every person she comes in contact with. So come smile, play and explore your yoga practice with Wolf!

She has been practicing yoga since 2010 and has completed both Seva Teacher Training & Hot Teacher Training at Yoga Pod in Boulder.

Sarah found yoga while searching for something to challenge herself physically and what she found in yoga was so much more. Now she practices yoga daily through regular hot classes or silent meditations to find inner peace and tranquility while challenging her mind and body.

In her free time you can find her hiking, rock climbing or enjoying a cup of tea with good friends.
Derek van der Linden
Derek van der Linden

Derek van der Linden

For Derek, the yoga journey began somewhat later on than many and rather apprehensively. Having lacked any real feeling of athleticism throughout his life, the idea of a yoga practice seemed unrealistic and overwhelming. It took one class with a certain teacher to completely shift that perspective and he dove in without so much as a backward glance.

Derek strives to create that same space for his students. A goofy sense of humor and an empathetic heart accompany a class where students are encouraged to discover themselves through a truly personal sense of practice, without taking themselves too seriously along the way. Perhaps the goal is not to change the way in which our bodies move, but the way in which we see our bodies moving.

When not practicing yoga, he finds enjoyment in running and the study of languages. He currently works full time in the financial services industry

Lily Wilkinson
Lily Wilkinson

Lily Wilkinson

Lily discovered the benefits of yoga soon after moving from New England to Boulder in 2010. While originally drawn by the physical demand and challenge of asana and breath to movement flow, she quickly began to understand how very integral a mindful yoga practice can be someone’s overall well being -- both inside and out! Lily’s favorite part about teaching yoga is helping students to tap into a truly empowered and grounded sense of self and community. She loves to have fun on and off the mat, and believes a smile is always the best "up level".
